When He Remembers Me No More

Author Deanie Burk, Editor/Publisher Brenda Black. The Bible speaks of the Lord promising beauty from ashes. In dark days, He delivers welcome light. He works in mysterious ways to extend His personal touch, writing His words on our hearts, filling our dreams, and teaching us how to recognize His redeeming work. Deanie Burk felt such power and presence in the midst of her darkest hours. God spoke, she listened. Now, she shares. When He Remembers Me No More, A Poetic Journey Through the Pain and Beauty of Alzheimer’s brings Deanie’s tender collection of unique artwork and intensely personal and inspired rhyme to chronicle the moments with a loved one enduring a disease that can turn loved ones into strangers.

Heart and Steel

Steve Schmidt, at 5-foot-10, 225 pounds, doesn’t look like a record-breaking weightlifter and strongman. But his long list of amazing accomplishments in the Iron Man game removes all doubt. Add to the mix a modesty seldom seen in the world of chest thumping body builders with super-human strength. Then nestle this Guinness World Records hero on a cattle farm in a patch of Missouri woods where he lives in an old farm house filled with antiques. Not quite the image one typically envisions of a man who can pull a 58,300 pound caboose with his teeth! Yes, Strongman Steve Schmidt is quite extraordinary and twists not only steel, but many an assumption when it comes to strength and die-hard determination. This is his story. It’s the journey of one man and the woman who believes in him. His abilities are phenomenal, his fortitude commendable. His dream ever pursued. And this is the truth. A man’s passion and talents are often misunderstood.
